Junho é mês de Santos Populares, de festas na cidade. Todos os anos, por esta altura rumamos até Alfama. Os miúdos adoram. Apesar de cansativo, gostam de conhecer este bairro tão diferente do seu, onde não faltam cantos e recantos, escadarias e os típicos becos lisboetas. E nós fazemos questão que eles conheçam a cidade onde nasceram.
Os seus olhos atentos captam tudo: as ruas enfeitadas com cores garridas, os manjericos com os seus poemas, a roupa lavada estendida às janelas, as igrejas em cada esquina, o fado e os bailaricos, o cheiro a sardinha assada, o Tejo em pano de fundo.
Depois do passeio, o merecido descanso. Sentados em plena rua, num restaurante improvisado pelas gentes do bairro, comemos umas sardinhas assadas e uma bela salada temperada pelo Pai à algarvia, com muito vinagre. E ficamos por ali mais um pouco a contemplar a vida animada do bairro, agora que os dias são longos e convidam a deitar mais tarde.
June is the month of Popular Saints Feast Days, one of the most awaited traditional events in Lisbon. By this time of the year we go to Alfama district. Although tiring, kids love to go there! They enjoy everything about it: the nooks and crannies, stairways and typical alleys; the streets decorated with colorful garlands; the sweet basil with paper carnations with poems; the laundry hanging outside window; the churches; the fado houses; the smell of grilled sardines and the Tagus River in the background. After the tour we sit for a well-deserved rest, right in the middle of the street to eat grilled sardines. And there we stayed for a while enjoying the view and the party.

Os bairros antigos, da Mouraria a Alfama, num emaranhado de ruas estreitas, becos e travessas. As fachadas dos edifícios, numa palete de tons pastel, os telhados em barro vermelho, os azulejos, a calçada portuguesa.

We went for a walk in Lisbon and decided to register the best of the Christmas decorations in the city through these pictures. At Christmas time, when the night falls, Lisbon is full of light and colour.
